A classic California Bungalow in the heart of Glen Iris in need of a major work-over after an extensive renovation to the rear of the house.
- The brief for this garden was to create something that is unique to the area so as define the house from its surroundings whilst highlighting the charm of the frontage to the classic Californian Bungalow.
- The rear was to be used for entertaining as well as for the play of two very active children. It is a small area therefore the area was to be shared. Rock wall raised gardens were used to define a synthetic turfed area from the paved entertaining/basketball court. The walls were created at seating height. The Crepe Myrtles planted in the gardens are under planted with various herbs and vegetables and looked after by the children.
- The plant species used throughout the front and rear gardens are extremely drought tolerant and require very little maintenance despite the large yields of flowers for arrangements inside.
